Description
Dr. Simpson wants his patients to know that high-quality dental care should be comfortable, not intimidating. At his Abilene, Texas dental practice he has created a "comfort room" that is free of drills, needles, or other clinical supplies. Patients can relax in massage chairs, listen to music, or watch TV while receiving cosmetic treatment such as teeth whitening.

PATTY SIMPSON: We have a wonderful space down the hall that we call our Comfort Room. We use it mainly for whitening teeth. We want it to be very comfortable for the patients, we want them to feel very tranquil when they’re in there because they’re having to lay with their mouth open for about an hour.
So we have a nice, squishy chair that massages, it’s the best. We have wonderful aroma therapy to choose from. We also have iPod music, different styles of music the patients can listen to. We have an exceptional big screen TV where you can bring your own movie if you would like or you can just watch something on TV.
Most of our patients have really thought it was a wonderful experience. It doesn’t look like a typical dental room. There are no drills and there are no needles. So it’s a great place to spend time with us while we whiten your teeth.
