DR. TIM SIMPSON: We’re all taught how to make dentures in dental school. And mostly that has to do with replacing the function of teeth that are lost, usually totally lost and you don’t have any.
There are other components to dentistry, though, that you need to take into consideration. One of them is your facial contours, and what your lips look like, and the shape of the lower third of your face when you have them, and making them look like they’re a part of you.
And that’s what a cosmetic denture is: all those parameters are taken into consideration in the fabrication of the final prosthetic.
